Program Overview

The Electrical Lineworker program provides students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills required to enter the utility industry as apprentice lineworkers. Trainees learn to work safely around high-voltage environments, climb wood poles and steel structures, perform pole-top rescues, and properly use climbing and lineworker tools. Instruction covers essential electrical theory, circuit analysis, bonding and grounding, aerial framing, rigging, setting and pulling poles, and the use of service vehicles such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and cranes. Students are introduced to trenching and excavating equipment as well as electrical test instruments commonly used in the trade. Through a combination of classroom instruction, field exercises, and performance-based assessments, graduates are prepared to begin careers supporting the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
